Charity Spotlight: S|A Maraia

As part of our #RenewalsForGood initiative, Hexos highlights charitable organizations to which we have made a contribution. Our contribution may include Hexos team members volunteering, a monetary donation from Hexos, or a combination therein. Hexos prioritizes organizations that champion environmental restoration, racial diversity and equity, and expanding STEM education. Additionally, Hexos invites input from its partners and clients to direct our involvement toward organizations and initiatives that are meaningful to them.

Reagan used to play little league softball. Between, practice, games, and school, she became so accustomed to the interior of her family’s Honda Odyssey that she hardly noticed the smell of spilled root beer and wet German Shepherd. Now, however, the smell of her family’s minivan is no more familiar than the sterile air of her pediatric oncologist’s office. Instead of training camp and batting practice, she’s occupied with treatment plans, consultations, and test after test after test. Her family is so focused on helping Reagan survive as long as possible, there is little time to reflect, relax, or relate — let alone play softball.

Camp Sunshine provides a respite for kids like Reagan and their families on a beautiful campus on Sebago Lake in Maine. With on-site counselling and medical support, Camp Sunshine offers a unique chance for children with life-threatening illness and their families to take a much-needed family vacation. For nearly forty years, Camp Sunshine has promoted hope and joy for such families free of charge. This is possible through the Camp Sunshine’s sponsors like S|A Maraia Charities which funds support programs for terminally-ill children like Camp Sunshine.

One of the key ways S|A Maraia raises the funds to support these wonderful charities is through their annual golf event S|AM Golf. Last year, enough funds were raised to sponsor Camp Sunshine’s new waterfront pavilion and family game room – forever known as the Stephen & Albert Maraia Lounge, the namesakes of the charity. This year, S|AM Golf hopes to raise $50,000 and you can help! By enrolling here, you’re teeing up to support girls like Reagan and her family and helping to provide them with a rare reprieve.
